Cornelius Taft "Neil" Gillis age 66, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Hock Family Pavilion. He was born December 27, 1943 to the late Howard Taft & Nellie Fuqua Gillis of Roxboro, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by nephew, Michael Boyd Gillis and his great-nephew Axel Gillis. Neil served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning to his home town of Roxboro, he worked with Sprint Telephone Company.

Mr. Gillis is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Boyd C. & Sally Gillis of Raleigh, NC, great nieces, Dr. Hailey Gillis of Atlanta, GA., Katherine Gillis of Greenville, SC., and Rachel Gillis Hudson of Columbia, SC.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM til 7:00 PM, Friday, July 30, 2010 at Brooks & White Funeral Home. A Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM, Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Victor Blackwell & the Rev. George Futrelle. Interment will follow on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Howard Gillis, D. T. Neal, Royce Gillis, LaRoy Westmoreland, Darrell Woody & Ray DeBruller. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lynn Fuqua, Spurgeon Neal, Billy Newton, Mike Dixon, Carl Blackwell, Ira Young, Carey Gillis & Jim Kowalski.

The family would like to thank the staff of both Camellia Gardens & The Hock Family Pavilion for their attentive and loving care of Neil.
