Phyllis Parham Dixon, age 65, of 46 Dee Long Road died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home. She was born in Durham County and was the daughter of the late Allen Parham and Bernice Clayton Parham. She was a graduate of Roxboro High School and Wake Forest University. She taught at Person High School and also in Charlotte. She was retired from GTE (now Verizon) as a supervisor. She was a member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Michael G. Dixon, of the home; two step-daughters, Lynn D. Whitlow and husband Alan of Roxboro; Ingrid Clayton of Durham; three step-grandchildren, Ashley Whitlow, Bart Whitlow, and LeAnne Whitlow Romascanu. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Ca-Vel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Tobie Stone and Rev. Bess Hunnings-Smith. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Whitey Baker, John Ellis, Dan Featherston, Jack Hester, Merle White and Landon Kirk. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Parham and Holmes Adair. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to Duke Home Care and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC, 27704. |
