Ernest Ward Crews, 78, of 5808 Hurdle Mills Road, Roxboro, died Sunday, March 24, 2019. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Allen Crews, Sr. and Myrtle Garrett Crews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Serena Hubbard, Nellie Horton, Hattie Mae Carver and Shelba Woody.

Mr. Crews retired from Collins & Aikman after 46 years of employment. He was a member of Somerset Baptist Church.

Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Betsy Moore Crews of the home; son, Timothy Ward Crews and wife, Cherie of Roxboro; brother, Allen Crews, Jr. and wife, Bertha of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Daylen Crews and Peyton Crews, the loves of his life; two special sisters-in-law: Patricia Brown and Donna Hall; his special traveling friends, Bobby and Bonnie Rimmer.

Visitation will be held 6-7:30 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Brooks & White Chapel and other times at the home.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Somerset Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Gearhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Rimmer, Bill Wilson, Leroy Culley, Forrest Cozart, Wayne Wilkerson and Ted Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Oakley and David Clayton.
