Cleo Solomon Long (90) was born April 6, 1928, to George and Alice Solomon. She went peacefully home to her Lord, Jesus Christ, Sunday, February 17, 2019. She was a lifetime resident in the Bushy Fork community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Allen Long.

Mrs. Long is survived by her four children: Randal Ewing Long (Sally) of Raleigh, Joan Long Martin (Charles) of Greenville, Michael Bernard Long (Stacia) of Gibsonville and Linda Long White of Brown Summit; seven grandchildren: Charles C. Martin, III (Jamie), Katherine Martin, Suzanne Long Record (Chris), Caroline Long, Courtney Paige White, Michael White and Parker White; five great-grandchildren: Charles "Cole" C. Martin, IV, Lily Jean Martin, Mary Kathryn Martin, Reagan Elise Record and Marin Elizabeth Record.

Cleo was proud to say she was one of eleven children. She is survived by three sisters: Beatrice Knott, Karen Whitfield (Jerry Whitfield), all of Bushy Fork and Shirley Bowers (Marvin Bowers) of Pleasant Garden; as well as 36 much loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mae Love Solomon and Alma Dunevant; five brothers: Thomas Solomon, Earl Solomon, Malcolm Solomon, George Solomon and Bernard Solomon.

Mrs. Long was an active lifetime member of Salem United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, served on many boards and taught Sunday School.

Cleo loved to cook and feed people. She was well known for several dishes but especially her pound cakes. She loved old Hymns and enjoyed singing in the choir. Another joy was gardening in her yard and she was always eager to show you her flowers.

Cleo spent a lot of time with her family at their cabin on Buggs Island where she in her younger years, water skied and taught many others to do so. She will live on in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Renee Burnette and Mr. George T. Solomon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held after the service and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 933 Salem Church Road, Hurdle Mills NC 27541.
