Jennie Lou Day Rogers, 99, of 636 Antioch Church Road, Timberlake, died peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Smith Day and Jennie Blondie James Day. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Monselle Rogers; one son, Larry Dean Rogers, Sr.; five brothers: Clint Day, Burley Day, Burke Day, Algie Day, and Emery Day; four sisters: White Aiken, Edna Clayton, Wiliah Ree Welch, and Sallie Jane Slaughter.

Mrs. Rogers was a lifetime member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday school secretary for 50 years. She taught Sunday school classes, helped with vacation bible school, and various other activities in the church. Antioch Baptist Church still uses her recipe for their Brunswick Stew. Mrs. Rogers was very active in the community where she was born and raised.

Surviving are her two children and their spouses: Carl Marion Rogers and wife, Connie of Wrightsville Beach and Jenny Lynn Davis and husband, Mike of Leasburg; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Russell Rogers, of Cary; one sister, Josephine Huff of Oxford; eight grandchildren: Lisa Tucker (Timmy), Jeanne Schmitz (David), L. Dean Rogers, Jr. (Maryann), Stacy Ward (Jeff), Jody Swing (Thomas), Richard Rogers (Elizabeth), Kelly Davis (Stacey), and Morgan Brooks (Brandon) and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 12:30-1:45 PM Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church and other times at the home.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Dr. M. David Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
