Richard Allen Fink, 77, of Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Rougemont, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Born in Washington Co., VA, Mr. Fink was the son of the late Orville Walden and Katharin Maiden Fink. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Katharin Irene Fink, his infant brother Warren Fink and his grandchild, Dustin Fink. Mr. Fink retired from Honeywell after over 30 years service having worked with NASA on the Apollo program, the Space Shuttle program and the Hubble Telescope. Several of his inventions were on board the space shuttles. He received the Herzl Award from NASA in 1986. Several of his inventions are at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. He owned 2 patents related to his inventions. He was a wonderful husband and his greatest joys were life and working in the aerospace industry. He had many hobbies including photography, especially nature, snorkeling and scuba diving around the world, rebuilding automobiles for fun and he was a master woodworker. He really enjoyed life, but he most enjoyed making memories.

Mr. Fink is survived by his wife, Judy Rogers Fink; his children, Raymond Fink, of Timberlake, Frank Sauls and wife Anna, of Danville, VA, his special daughter, Priscilla Duncan Pak, of Timberlake, and his special son Santos Madrid and wife Sonia, of Roxboro; three grandchildren, Toni Dillon, Kyli Sauls and Karl Fink

Funeral services will be held 3PM, Friday, April 6, 2018, at Mt. Tirzah United Methodist Church by the Rev. Barry Chambers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-3PM Friday at Mt. Tirzah United Methodist Church prior to the service and at other times at the home.

Pallbearers, Karl Fink, Santos Madrid, Andy Oakley, Danny Vaughn, Jack Capps, Milton Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hicks, Dennis Oakley and Pete Thomas.

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to a church or charity of one's choice.
