Christine Day McKee, 95, was called home to her Lord and Maker on March 5, 2018, following a brief illness. She was born in Person County, NC, and lived most of her life in the community of Caldwell, located in Orange County, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, Tinnie and Rebecca Day. She was the last of her 15 siblings: Estelle, Libby, Hoke, Creed, Lou, Ela, Pattie, Izuba, Mildred, Graham, Jewell, Bailey, Polly, and Mollie Mosette. The family grew up on a large farm and were known for their strong work ethic, hospitality, large family gatherings, and love for each other. Christine’s world revolved around her family, neighbors, friends, community, and church. She took much joy in doing things for others, and her house was always welcoming to family and neighbors.

She lost the love of her life Billie Ray McKee 46 years ago as well as her beloved daughter Carol McKee Knight 21 years ago. She is survived by son, Rickie Day McKee, daughter, Cynthia Sue McKee, grandchildren Kristal Knight Cloer (Scott), Jim Knight (Terri), and Bill McKee, all of Hurdle Mills/Caldwell , son-in law Gene Knight of Greensboro, 12 great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 8th, at 11:00 at Little River Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Chuck Link and Pastor Ken Tilley, followed by burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will follow the services in the church fellowship hall.

Pall bearers will be Charles Blalock, Steve James, William Carden, Tommy Hamlin, James Hill, Archie Smith, Jimmy Gentry, and Dennis Russell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an organization that has served her precious daughter Cindy well over the years: The Arc of the Triangle, 1709 Legion Road, Suite 100, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, or online at
