Bernard Gentry (91) passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born on January 8, 1927 to John Roy Gentry and Myrtle Gooch Gentry. He lived in Timberlake, NC his entire life and was an active member in church and community activities. He was a loyal and dedicated member of Helena United Methodist Church for 76 years and served in many positions of leadership. He assisted in the establishment of Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Fireman for many years. He served in the Navy in World War 2. He was one of the original employees of RPC in Roxboro, NC and assisted in designing and development of several products. He held several managerial positions with the company and retired as International Sales Manager. Using the Golden Rule as his guiding principle he was truly an inspiration to his family and many friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Knott Gentry; his son, Leland Gooch Gentry (Brenda); grandson, Gregory Mark Gentry; great grandsons, Christopher Blake Gentry and Brendan Fox Gentry; great granddaughter, Mary Angelina Gentry; sister, Aleane Gentry Webb (Ted); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Gentry loved his family and friends and received love from them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved grandson, Christopher Leland Gentry, and a special aunt, Blanche Gooch Gentry.

Funeral service will be held at Helena United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Lisa Reynolds will officiate with Rev. Jack Snyder assisting.

Pallbearers will be Derek Clayton, Bruce Knott, Randy Knott, Trent Knott, Billy Horner, John Puryear, Larry Schlesinger, and Jonathan Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Oakley, Ricky Chambers, Darnell Wolfe, and Gordon Powell.
