Clyde Weldon Bowes, 91, of 4131 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Clarence King Bowes and Addie Mae Vicks Bowes. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest Bowes and Milo Bowes. Mr. Bowes was a WWII Army Veteran in the 100th Division. He was a member of Theresa Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Helen Long Bowes of the home; two children: James Michael Bowes (Joan) of Saltsville, VA and Sandra Kay Long (Horace) of Roxboro; four brothers: Mac Bowes, Coy Bowes, F.T. Bowes and Wayne Bowes; three sisters: Golvia Breeze, Thelma Clayton and Jean Carver; four grandchildren: Doug Bowes (Christie), Carl Long (Dee Dee), Jamey Caudell and Lee Caudell (Christine); nine great-grandchildren: Camryn Bowes, Delanei Clayton, Lindsey Fagala, Carly Long, Nicole Long, Dane Long, Kierstyn Long, Courtney Caudell and Kaylee Caudell.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Brooks & White Chapel and other times at the home.

Funeral service will be 3 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bowes, Michael Brandon, Franklin Briggs, Carroll Clayton, Chris Clayton, Linwood Clayton, Tim Clayton, Tommy Cozart, Donald Duncan, Steve Evans, Tim Gilliam, Stan Harris, Scotty Jones, Ellis Lee and Tracey Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Clayton, David Clayton, Theodore Hodges (PA), David Benthall (OT), Kathryn Simons (Dietitian) and Turquious Byrd (Social Worker).
