Horace Claiborne Tuck, Sr., 79, of 513 South Main Street died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home. He was born in Person County to the late George "Sport" Flemming Tuck and Lenora Bowling Tuck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Tuck and Errol Tuck, and one sister, Iris Tuck Chrisman. A 1956 graduate of Helena High School, Mr. Tuck worked as a finance manager for 50 years at Provident Finance and American General. Mr. Tuck was an active member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. He enjoyed participating and competing in several bridge clubs. Working in his yard and gardens brought him joy and pleasure. Mr. Tuck was also an avid fan of Duke basketball.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Clayton Tuck, of the home; two children, Horace "Clay" Claiborne Tuck, Jr. and wife Martha, of Roxboro and Laura Tuck Hodgin and husband Stan, of Winchester, VA; one sister, Sherron Tuck White, of Maryland; four grandchildren, Jordan Tuck Bridges and husband Will, Caitlin Carter Tuck, Ashley Morgan Kincaid, and Katherine "Kasey" Margaret Clayton; and a special nephew, Theodore "Ted" Clayton Michie.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Long Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Nash, the Rev. Tom Loftis and Kieth Porter officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Methodist Men, John Westmoreland, Ralph Lewis, Ted Webb, Jack Hester, Cotton Powell, Leon Long, Al Taylor, James Woody, Paul Williams, Tom Alexander, Terry Foushee, Terry Allen, Jamie Mundy, Bob Morgan, Bob Linville and Tommy Monk.
