Harold Page Wilkerson "Booty", 99, of 610 Ridge Road, Roxboro, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home. Born March 7, 1918 he was the son of the late, Roger W. Wilkerson and Jessie Webb Wilkerson of Roxboro.

He was a life long member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church and attended Sunday School for 18 years without missing a Sunday. He was a member of Wesley Crusaders Sunday School Class, member of United Methodist Men and former member of Roxboro Lion's Club. He was president of his senior class at Roxboro High School and played four years on the football team. He joined the US Navy on August 9, 1942 and entered active service at Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk VA. Booty served on NIS No.B Norfolk and in UG 5 Squadron on the USS Sangamon. After service in North Africa he served in the South Pacific. He received the American Area Campaign Medal in European Africa and received the Middle Eastern Area Campaign Medal. He also received the Bronze Star in the Asiatic Pacific Area and the Philippines Liberation.

Mr. Wilkerson was married to Anna Chandler Wilkerson. They formed the Roxboro Florist which they operated for 27 years. Then he was an officer in the NC Department of Corrections at Blanch, NC for 18 years.

He is survived by two nieces: Joyce Poindexter and Josephine Gulley; four nephews: Page Wilkerson, Roger "Bud" Wilkerson III, Neal Whelden and Norris Whelden; numerous great nieces and nephews; caregivers: Marcel Locklear and Frances Chavis.

A memorial service will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Long Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Nash and Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
