Audrey Marguerite Wright Blanks, 88, of Roxboro died Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Arthur Wright, Sr. and Ethel Amelia Lins Wright. Mrs. Blanks was retired after working at several insurance agencies in Uptown Roxboro starting with Allen-Gates in early 1960s. She was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church having served many years as a Sunday school class teacher.

Audrey graduated salutatorian of her high school class (first class year in NC that repeated its senior year requiring twelve grades). She declined a full scholarship to University of Pennsylvania to remain with friends and the love of her life. She married her high school sweetheart Bob Blanks on June 10, 1950 in Philadelphia. They were married for over 66 years.

She was a strong supporter of local Red Stocking Revues enjoying its spectacle at the Kirby Theater. Even more so, she loved playing weekly bridge with many friends for over twenty years hosting many tables. Engaged with her community supporting her four sons in local theater (Person Players), school sports and projects, always encouraging importance of education. Both Bob and Audrey loved travel going together around USA and several times Hawaii, Caribbean, and Europe.

Surviving are four sons, Steven Robert Blanks, of Fishkill, NY, Richard "Rick" Charles Blanks, of Winston Salem, NC, Brian Scott Blanks (Dayna), of Marlton, NJ, and David Paul Blanks (Pam), of Colorado Springs, CO; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Adam, and Alexander. Also, she has one surviving younger brother Chuck Wright (Rosita) of Charlotte, NC.

Memorial services will be held at Long Memorial United Methodist Church at 1 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
