Judith Carolyn Hunter Gatewood, 82, of 169 Old Durham Rd., Roxboro, died Thursday, July 6, 2017. Born in Campbell County, VA, Mrs. Gatewood was the daughter of the late Willie F. and Josie Sterling Angel Hunter, wife of the late Nelson Frank Gatewood and mother-in-law of the late Stanley King. Mrs. Gatewood was an active member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School for over 25 years. She also served on the board of Safe Haven. Mrs. Gatewood had a passion for life, humor and caring for others. Mrs. Gatewood was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Gatewood is survived by two daughters, Teressa (Trecy) Eagle King and Pamela Eagle Blankenship (Fred), both of Roxboro; one step-daughter, Tina Carter (Doug), of Roxboro; one brother, Stafford Hunter, of Brookneal, VA; five grandchildren, Amber King Milligan, Tobie King, Dusty Blankenship, Josh Clayton and Krista Carter; three great-grandchildren and a host of special friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Richard Long. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-7:30PM Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be David Lankford, Franklin Edwards, Kasey Hurdle, Jessie Duncan, Anthony Johnson, and Chris Oakley.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Taineisha Bolden, Dr. Kenneth Strachan, the nurses at Person Memorial Hospital and her sister in Christ, Nancy Morris. In addition, Kathy Hurdle, Susan Bowen, Christy Shepard and Josephine Edwards for their unselfish time and love throughout her journey.
