Floyd Nichols "Shag" Childress, 71, of Roxboro died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Roxboro Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Person County he was the son of the late William Taft Childress, Sr. and Edna Womack Childress. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, William Taft Childress, Jr.; two sisters: Katie C. Harris and Juanita C. Murray. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Greeley Childress of Roxboro; one son, Jason E. Childress and wife, Mary Jo of Timberlake; four sisters: Margeret Stone, Faye Coats, Deborah Stoner, and Marion Wesley, all of Roxboro; two grandchildren: Tyler Childress of Roxboro and Emma Childress of Timberlake.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Raymond Wooten. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8PM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
